About us

Hi, I'm Colin Edson. I started MADEIN to encourage people to embrace their ethnic backgrounds. As a Chinese-American growing up in a predominantly American community, I struggled with identifying as Chinese. I always felt that I had to assimilate to the people around me in order to be recognized in any sort of social setting. I felt uncomfortable even saying that I was half Chinese because I, myself, did not even know what that truly meant to my identity. It was not until much later on in life that I was able to be proud of being from somewhere that was not the U.S..

In a country that has become a melting pot of people from all over the world, it is of the utmost importance that everybody feels they can express their culture unapologetically. We must continue to create unity amongst our difference and drive out any form of distaste for any of the cultures that reside within our society.

This world was not created for all of us to become the same, but for all of us to embrace what makes us unique. Share your story while learning about the ones of those around you and never look down on where you came from because where you came from is a culture that is loved and appreciated.
